Stephan M. Klinger brings over 15 years of high-level leadership experience in Europe’s financial sector, having held executive positions across central banking, insurance, banking and regulatory authorities. As Head of Legal at the Austrian National Bank, he served as chief legal advisor and led the national enforcement of EU financial sanctions. Prior to that, he acted as Group Head of Compliance for the Volksbanken sector and Head of Group Legal at Vienna Insurance Group, steering complex legal and governance transformations.
His broad expertise is grounded in four academic disciplines—law, management, philosophy, and social anthropology—and is complemented by over two decades of national and international teaching in financial regulation, compliance, and strategic leadership. He has lectured at institutions across Europe, Asia, and North America, including the World Gold Council, Harvard Business School, Hetman University Kiev and Chulalongkorn University.
Stephan Klinger holds a PhD in Management, a Master’s in Legal Studies with a focus on financial market law, and has completed executive programs in machine learning and negotiation at LSE and Harvard. He was awarded the title “Professor (FH)” by the Ferdinand Porsche University of Applied Sciences in 2024.
