THE KAZAKHSTAN OFFICE serves as a cornerstone of our Vienna-based law firm’s international set-up: we bridge boundaries, connect markets and create opportunities, be it in Central Europe, CIS or Asia. In doing so, we address individual needs and leverage an international network that reaches beyond Europe and the CIS markets. Thus, we enable our clients to work across several jurisdictions.

LGP has been active in Kazakhstan since 2009 and advises both Kazakh and European multinationals. LGP's areas of expertise in Kazakhstan include corporate law, M&A, antitrust law, tax law, construction law, European and sanctions law, and labour law. In 2013, LGP acquired an Astana-based subsidiary, Lansky, Ganzger & Partner Kazakhstan LLP. By simultaneously establishing a local branch, LGP has succeeded in continuously expanding its client base in Kazakhstan. We offer on-site legal assistance by our Kazakh lawyers. In addition, a team of native-speaking lawyers and translators based in Vienna ensures the efficient use of resources and quality management.

LGP serves numerous high-profile clients in the region:

  • We advise the transnational transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss on the acquisition of a Kazakh transport company. A due diligence was performed and the approval of the antimonopoly authority for the economic concentration was obtained.
  • We provide tax advice to the Austrian oil company OMW on issues including transfer pricing, current VAT refund and VAT refund for investments in the pre-production phase.
  • We provide long-term legal support to Schulz Systemtechnik GmbH, a German service company in the field of renewable energy in the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 50 MW in Agadyr, Karaganda.
  • We represent the Kazakh company Bolat Issatayev v. Maersk in arbitration proceedings under UNCITRAL rules.
