LGP is adding to its partners

Dr. Julia Andras (Managing Partner and Head of Litigation)

Attorney-at-law Julia Andras (38) has joined the management of our law firm since January 2018. Andras, who holds a doctorate in law, specialises in employment law, litigation, tort law, warranty law and general civil law, and has been working at LGP for more than 15 years. She has recently been in the public eye as a result of media interest in her cases – for example, in connection with the process to seek compensation from the region of Upper Austria on behalf of children who had previously been in care, or the legal dispute revolving around a plot of land on the shore of Lake Wörthersee. Away from the glare of the media spotlight, Julia Andras has also offered all-round assistance on economic matters for well-known companies and public institutions, including gambling companies, media institutions, publishing houses and infrastructure service providers. Julia Andras is Secretary-General of the Austrian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce (AICC) and a member of the board of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists (IAJLJ), an internationally active NGO based in Israel.

Attorney-at-law Julia Andras had already held multiple management positions prior to being appointed Managing Partner. She heads up LGP’s Litigation department, and, in her long-term role as Secretary-General of the Austrian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce (AICC), has been responsible for expanding this platform, founded in 1991, to step up economic relations between Israel and Austria. In 2017, Andras hosted the launch event for the Viennese Dialogue for the Protection of the Rule of Law (“Antisemitism and hate crime in the digital age”). Following in the footsteps of the founders of the firm, she is committed to integrated cooperation between members of various ethnicities and social groups. Her most recent publication came out in autumn 2017: “Die Anwendung des Dienstgeberhaftungsprivilegs – am Beispiel eines österreichischen Eisenbahnunternehmens” [The Application of the Employer Liability Privilege – Taking an Austrian Rail Company as an Example] (Lexis Nexis 2017).

“Julia Andras is one of the longest-serving lawyers at LGP. She is closely connected to the company and has been with us throughout her professional career: from working with us during her degree, through to becoming Managing Partner,” emphasised Gabriel Lansky, Gerald Ganzger and Ronald Frankl upon her appointment as partner. “In addition, our new partner has also proved her worth on an international stage – which is an asset for us as internationally active lawyers,” said Lansky. “Our colleague makes an impact within our company: she makes things happen and fills people with enthusiasm,” added Ronald Frankl. “We are delighted that, by appointing Julia Andras to the position of partner, we can take our long-term collaboration with her to a new level.”
